Countdown - 14 days until departure

Tim and Dad are heading north to Alaska.  It's a long overdue trip and, perhaps, their last chance as Tim grows into mid-adulthood and might even, someday, find himself saddled with a real job.

So, in addition to the adventure that is driving almost 3000 miles through the most beautiful lands on our continent, we'll be visiting a daughter/sister, son-in-law/brother-in-law, grandson and nephew, and maybe even Sarah as she lives in the same Alaskan town as the previously mentioned celebrities.

Ed will depart central Oregon in our "Skinny-Winni", christened Duh-R-V, on the evening of May 12, 2011 to pick up Tim the following morning in Beaverton.  Tim will be, hopefully, ready and excited about the adventure ahead.

The only "must do" items on our itinerary are visiting the kin of course, a halibut fishing charter out of Homer or perhaps Valdez, pizza and beer at Mountain High Pizza Pie in Talkeetna, breakfast at Talkeetna Road House and a landing on Ruth Glacier below Mount Mckinnly (Denali) courtesy of Talkeetna Air Taxi.

Duh-R-V is ready, systems checked, oil changed and stocked with fun food and drink.  Almost time to "take off to the Great White North", the "Upper One", the "Northland", the "Last Frontier", the "Great Land and  "The Land of the Midnight Sun.

But first, Canada beckons.  Oh Canada!

O Canada! in praise of thee we sing;
From echoing hills our anthems proudly ring.
With fertile plains and mountains grand
With lakes and rivers clear,
Eternal beauty, thos dost stand
Throughout the changing year.

Oh, Canada, here we come!
